Frequently asked questions

  • Most materials work great, as long as the surface is smooth and stable. I commonly personalize paper, glass, metal, acrylic/plastic, ceramic, and leather items using engraving, foiling, and paint/ink techniques. Typical items include wine glasses, candles, fragrance and beauty packaging, lipstick, mirrors, notebooks, ornaments, luggage tags, keychains, fans, cards, and envelopes.

    If you’re unsure about an item, send a photo or sample and I can recommend the best method.

  • Common surfaces to engrave on include: glass, metal, stone/ceramic, leather, and plastic.

    On smooth/slippery surfaces (ex. glass and plastic), gold/silver colour can be added to help the engraving stand out.

    Popular items to engrave:

    • Glass: fragrance bottles, liquor bottles, wine glasses, champagne glasses, candles, ornaments

    • Metal: water bottles, lipsticks, makeup brushes

    • Stone/Ceramic: plates, mugs, gua sha

    • Plastic: compact mirrors, lipstick cases

    • Leather: notebooks, keychains, luggage tags (using heat-foiling method)

  • Speed varies by material, name length, and design complexity, but a good baseline is 15-25 items per hour. For high-volume events requiring more items engraved, I can bring additional artists so lines stay short and guests are taken care of.

    Factors that impact engraving speed:

    • Material: Smooth, hard surfaces (like glass and metal) engrave faster than textured materials (like leather).

    • Packaging: Items that are unwrapped and ready to engrave move faster than items taht need unboxing or re-boxing.

    • Colour fill: Colour fill adds extra steps, so it increase the time per item.

    • Style: Simple, clean monoline lettering is quicker than thicker downstroke styles.

    • Content: Initials and short names are fastest, while longer names or phrases take more time for spacing and legibility.

  • A sturdy table, chair, good lighting, and access to a power outlet when required. I’ll arrive with all the tools and supplies needed for the service. If your venue has any specific setup guidelines, share them in advance and I’ll plan accordingly.

  • My on-site event services start at $600 for a 3 hour booking. Final pricing may vary based on the service type, event length, item volume, and any add-ons (an assistant and/or additional artists for high-volume events).
